CALENDAR & SCHOOL CLOSINGS

Our calendar is based on the New York City Public School Calendar for holidays, as well as for school closings. There may be some differences in days off such as Election Day. In case of stormy weather, please listen to your radio or TV station for any announcements about school closings. If NY City Public Schools are closed for inclimate weather or emergencies, so are we.

CHANGE OF CLOTHES

It is necessary for all children to have a full set of extra clothing in school at all times in case of an accident. Please leave your child's extra clothing, labeled with his/her name, in their book bag. If a child's clothing is to be removed so he/she can be cleaned and changed.

DRESS CODE

Children must wear school uniforms Monday through Friday. Parents are required to purchase two RCN T-shirts, which are sold for $12 each. On school trips all children MUST wear an RCN T-shirt.

The last Friday of each month is “Dress Down Day.” Parents who wish their children to participate in Dress Down Day are required to pay one dollar ($1.00,) which goes into the RCN 529 Scholarship Fund. Children will not be allowed in the center without uniforms on any other day.

To ensure the well being of your child and others, we discourage children from carrying or wearing hair clips or other jewelry.  Miniature beads, pearls, or small accessories can be easily removed and cause harm to children’s eyes, ears, noses, and throats.

RCN urges parents to not send children to school with valuables. If you choose to do so, be advised that RCN takes no responsibility for the loss or destruction of personal property, nor are we responsible for any personal items left in your child’s cubby.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM POLICY (2380 MARION AVE. BRONX )

Our School Age Program is offered five days a week.  This program assists children with homework and offers structured recreational activities, both after school and when school is not in session. In addition to homework help, we provide free tutoring in reading. For recreation we have tennis and an after school choir that is run by a qualified music instructor.

If you will be taking advantage of our pickup service, we ask that you follow these guidelines:

Call RCN when your child will not be attending public school that day.  It is necessary for us to verify the whereabouts of each of our students.  Lengthy periods of time are wasted hunting for a child only to find he or she has not attended school that day.

Please provide a signed, hand-written note as well as a phone call to Round the Clock if you would like your child to go home with another child.  Play dates can be fun, but let’s keep our children safe!

Thank you in advance for being conscientious in adhering to these guidelines.  Your child’s safety is our priority.

MEALS

RCN provides healthy instructional meals each day.

VISITING 7 VLOUNTEERING

Parents are recognized as their children's first and most important teachers, regardless of individual and family circumstances. Therefore, it is our goal to capitalize on family strengths. Parents are welcome to visit the classroom at any time. Feel free to read a story, help with snack or to share a special talent. There are always art projects set up and toys and puzzles to help play with. Please notify the classroom teacher in advance to ensure there are not too many adults in the room at one time.

SEPARATION

Sometimes a child will cry when you are leaving them, please be assured that this will probably upset you for far longer than your child, they are usually playing happily within ten minutes of you leaving or even by the time!

You are very welcome to phone for reassurance at anytime.

We are very happy to give you a ‘fly on the wall’ account of what your child is up to!
